Frequently Asked Questions For

MAGPUL AR15 STOCK KIT REAPER Z SILVER FINISH MIL- SPEC

  1. What is the difference between mil spec and commercial spec?
  1. What is the difference between mil spec and commercial spec?
The biggest differences between the two tube types are:
    1) The buffer tube diameter itself
    2) The diameter of the threads in relation to the diameter of the tube.

Mil-Spec: On the mil-spec buffer tube the threads at the front are actually a larger diameter than the rest of the tube itself. A large tube is used and the threads are lathed as normal. The rest of the tube is milled down to the military specified diameter.

Commercial-Spec: The tube matches the final tube diameter with the threads cut into the front end.
