ELITE22S™ BLACK NITRIDE
416 STAINLESS STEEL 10/22® STYLE RECEIVER WITH FITTED 16.5" FLUTED BARREL

ELITE22S™ BLACK NITRIDE 416 STAINLESS STEEL 10/22® STYLE RECEIVER WITH FITTED 16.5" FLUTED BARREL

If you're a shooter that demands excellence and precision, we have raised the bar again for 10/22 style receivers.  Our latest receiver that continues to push the limits of perfection is our ELITE22S model.  You guessed it!  The "S" is for STAINLESS STEEL.  Its not aluminium that looks like stainless...  its a 100% precision CNC machined receiver that is made from a one piece solid block of ordnance grade 416 stainless steel to provide the strongest, most durable 10/22 style receiver available.

Now serious target shooters, varmint shooters, as well as plinkers can enjoy the strength, durability and precison that only a machined one piece stainless steel receiver with an integrally machined solid extended picatinny rail can provide.   In addition to the unparalleled strength of the 416 ordnance grade stainless receiver material, our ELITE22S 10/22 style receiver is loaded with the features that easily separate it from other receivers, while still maintaining the ability to use Ruger factory parts when desired.

Ruger & 10/22 Are Registered Trademarks of Sturm Ruger
  1. RECEIVER PRECISION MACHINED FROM ORDNANCE GRADE 416 BILLET STAINLESS STEEL

The ELITE22S stainless steel 10/22 style receiver starts as an incredible 8.8 pound solid billet of 416 ordnance stainless steel. Extensive CNC machining converts the solid block into a 20.2 ounce precision receiver with an integrally machined extended picatinny scope rail.  The receiver is machined as one piece and is NOT multiple pieces assembled into a receiver.   It is unmatched for strength while providing an appearance that can only be achieved with stainless steel.  All dimensions of the receiver are held to close tolerances for reliable consistency and easy assembly.

  2. CLEAN FROM THE CHAMBER TO THE MUZZLE

Target shooters have always known that the correct way to clean a rifle is from the chamber and out the muzzle rather than pushing all the dirt from the barrel into the receiver while potentially damaging the barrel crown with the cleaning rod. Our receivers have a 1/4" hole in the rear of the receiver that allows you to put a cleaning rod in the rear of the receiver, then attach the brush and swab the barrel from the chamber to the muzzle without having to remove the barrel (and loose your zero each time). The cleaning access hole is cosmetically covered with a snap in plug that blends with the rear of the receiver when installed while still being completely hidden when the receiver is in the rifle stock.
  3. PICATINNY PRECISION MACHINED RAIL

The ELITE22S Receiver comes standard with an extended picatinny rail integrally machined into the receiver.  For maximum strength and alignment, it is machined into the receiver as one piece (as compared to a bolt-on version).  The integrally machined extended picatinny rail is standard rather than the less versatile weaver style rail.  The extended rail allows larger optics to easily be utilized on the receiver.   The rail is mil-spec to fit most popular scopes, accessories and optics.
  4. CHOICE OF FINISHES

The ELITE22S billet stainless steel receiver is available in your choice of three finishes:

  • POLISHED STAINLESS
  • MATTE STAINLESS
  • BLACK NITRIDE POLISHED STAINLESS
  5. PROFESSIONALLY LASER ENGRAVED

To compliment the finish, each receiver is professionally laser engraved in compliance with BATFE marking requirements, indicating its serial number, model and manufacturer information. Laser engraving costs a few dollars more than traditional rotary engraving, but anything less looks like it. The ELITE22S stainless receiver delivers in appearance and performance at a reasonable cost.

Frequently Asked Questions For

ELITE22S™ BLACK NITRIDE
416 STAINLESS STEEL 10/22® STYLE RECEIVER WITH FITTED 16.5" FLUTED BARREL

  1. Is an FFL rquired to purchase this receiver? Can you ship it directly to me?
  2. Why do polished receivers and nitride receivers cost more than a matte finish receiver?
  3. Do I need a special bolt? Can I use a Ruger factory bolt?
  4. What exactly is included with this receiver?
  5. Can I assemble this receiver as either a rifle or a pistol? Does it have to be marked either way?
  6. Can I use this receiver for any caliber other than the .22LR that its designed for?
  7. Is the receiver available with different height or different length rails?
  8. What other parts do I need to assemble a complete custom rifle or pistol?
  9. Will this receiver interchange with my factory Ruger 10/22 receiver?
  10. What barrel does this receiver use? Threaded or factory press fit?
  11. Will the Ruger factory charging handle and spring assembly work with this receiver?
  12. Will this receiver work well with a scope?
  13. Will the factory iron sights mounted on the barrel still work with this receiver?
  1. Is an FFL rquired to purchase this receiver? Can you ship it directly to me?
An FFL (Federal Firearms License) is required to purchase this receiver. It is the piece of the firearm that is restricted by federal law. You can purchase every other piece of the firearm without any license and have them shipped directly to your home but this receiver must ship to an FFL dealer. Most local gun shops and pawn shops will have an FFL and will handle the receipt of the receiver and the paperwork to transfer it to you for a nominal fee.
  2. Why do polished receivers and nitride receivers cost more than a matte finish receiver?
Polished stainless receivers require considerably more handling and prep time to achieve the bright finish as compared to the abrasive blasted matte finish.
  3. Do I need a special bolt? Can I use a Ruger factory bolt?
No special proprietary bolt is required. This receiver will work well with the factory Ruger bolt, which is a drop-in replacement. You can also upgrade to a Precision Machined CNC Bolt Assembly in place of the standard Ruger cast bolt for higher end custom builds. The receiver will work equally well with either the factory Ruger bolt or the upgraded Precision Machined CNC Bolt Assembly. No modifications are required to either bolt assembly.
  4. What exactly is included with this receiver?
The receiver ships as a stripped receiver. Due to the large variety of buffers, V-Blocks etc that can be used to complete the receiver, we do not include or charge for additional parts which you may or may not need. All additional parts are available individually. The picatinney rail is integrally machined into the receiver and can not be removed or replaced.
  5. Can I assemble this receiver as either a rifle or a pistol? Does it have to be marked either way?
A receiver is not a rifle or a pistol and will transfer to you on a Form 4473 (Yellow Form) as an "Other", specifically a receiver. It can not be designated as either a rifle or a pistol when manufacturer unless it is first assembled in that configuration, regardless of how it is engraved. The receiver becomes either a rifle or a pistol based on how it is first assembled. If you assemble it as a rifle, per ATF regulations, it has to be a rifle forever. If you assemble it as a pistol, it has to be a pistol forever. You CAN NOT go back and forth between a rifle and a pistol configuration. Once you assemble it as either a rifle or a receiver, it is not necessary to "register" it as either one or to notify ATF of your assembly configuration.
  6. Can I use this receiver for any caliber other than the .22LR that its designed for?
The receiver is specifically designed for .22LR ammunition. It will NOT work with .22 Magnum ammunition. Other customers have experimented with custom built rifles in .17 with good success but the success of that rifle assembly would be the responsibility of the builder. As the manufacturer of the receiver, we recommend only .22LR builds other than by professional qualified gunsmiths.
  7. Is the receiver available with different height or different length rails?
The integrally machined picitinny rail is the only length and height configuration that is currently available.
  8. What other parts do I need to assemble a complete custom rifle or pistol?

You can easily complete a rifle or pistol 10/22 style compatible receiver that can then be assembled with Ruger factory 10/22 parts or with our billet machined parts for a high quality custom firearm.  In order to assemble a complete custom rifle, you will need the following additional parts:

    1. Bolt Assembly (Includes Bolt, Sharp Claw Extractor, Stainless Steel Firing Pin)

    2. Charging Handle Assembly (Charging Handle, Rod, Spring)

    3. Bolt Buffer

    4. V-Block & V-Block Cap Screws (you will need one V-Block and two cap screws)

    5. Barrel

    6. Trigger Assembly (complete)

    7. Receiver Cross Pins

    8. Stock

    9. Receiver / Stock Takedown Screw

Assembly is as easy as re-assembling a rifle that has been stripped to its major assemblies for cleaning since the more difficult parts are already put together for you (such as the trigger assembly and the bolt).   You will have to fit the barrel shank to the receiver per the instructions on each barrel page.  For tools, you will need a pack of allen wrenches and in less than an hour, and you can easily assemble your own custom rifle.

  9. Will this receiver interchange with my factory Ruger 10/22 receiver?
This receiver is a direct replacement for your Ruger factory receiver. It will fit the same stock and all Ruger factory accessories (other than the scope mount).
  10. What barrel does this receiver use? Threaded or factory press fit?
This receiver uses all barrels that are made for a factory Ruger 10/22 rifle. Barrels are mounted to the receiver using the Ruger designed V-Block mounting system. The V-Block from your Ruger factory gun will work or you can upgrade to our OFFSET V-BLOCK or ADJUSTABLE V-BLOCK for better barrel to scope alignment.
  11. Will the Ruger factory charging handle and spring assembly work with this receiver?
The Ruger factory charging handle will work with this receiver or you can upgrade to an oversize charging handle in either steel or aluminum.
  12. Will this receiver work well with a scope?
This receiver will work very well with a scope or with similar optics such as a red dot. It will not work with traditional Ruger factory iron sights since the integral picatinny rail will block the iron sights.
  13. Will the factory iron sights mounted on the barrel still work with this receiver?
You will not be able to use the Ruger factory barrel mounted iron sights with this receiver. The height of the picatinny rail will block the iron sights. You will have to use a scope, red dot or similar receiver mounted optic.

The barrel to receiver fit is critical for the assembly process.  If the barrel is loose in the receiver, when you tighten the V-block screws it will cause the barrel to droop so that you will never be able to get the scope dialed in.  We plug gauge the receiver barrel hole in each receiver before shipping to ensure that its within the correct tolerance.  The barrel manufacturers (including our barrels) also hold their barrel shanks often on the larger end of the tolerance scale to ensure that its not going to be loose in any receiver that you may put it in.

When you have a precision receiver that is holding the hole tolerance and a barrel that is also trying to compensate and be capable of being used in any receiver with varying hole diameters, then the barrel can be too tight for the receiver hole which is a common occurrence.  The logic is that its far better for it to be a little too tight so it can be fitted to the receiver rather than be too loose.

The fitting of the barrel to the receiver can be accomplished by any one of multiple methods, depending on what resources you have available.  All material should be removed from the barrel shank since its much easier to get to it and to keep round.  If you don't need to take much off, you can use sandpaper on the barrel shank until the shank is a light press fit to the receiver.  If more material is required to be removed, you'll have to use a wide flat file on the barrel shank as you slowly turn the barrel.  Usually you only have to polish off a few .001's so sandpaper is all that's required and you'll wind up with a perfect barrel to receiver light press fit.
